Guests and the media are invited to attend the inaugural event. SPCA Tampa Bay will have many adoptable dogs waiting for their new pet parents to take them home. Plus there will be displays of pet behavior and disaster preparedness information for people and pets, gift drawings in support of SPCA Tampa Bay’s 3K PetWalk in October 2010, and fun for all pet lovers. Leigh Moody, former Bay News 9 Anchor and now SPCA Tampa Bay’s Social Media Consultant will be on hand to welcome guests and help potential pet owners find a new furry friend!

Pet parents can also purchase a Doggie Bag to Go starter kit from SPCA Tampa Bay Boutique that contains: Iams dog food, water and food dishes, a dog toy and 3 month supply of Frontline so you can get your new furry friend off on the right paw.

Each month, SPCA Tampa Bay and Reeves Subaru will bring you a Drive to Save Event in support of the many wonderful SPCA Tampa Bay programs that help our local communities.

The Outdoor Arts Foundation announced today that it’s “R’Kidtecture” project, featuring 20 children’s playhouses designed and built by Bay area architects and artists will kick-off on Friday, March 26th at Reeves Import Motorcars in Tampa.

Internationally acclaimed photographer, Drew Gardner will be photographing the playhouses the week of March 22nd; and, on Friday, March 26th, the playhouses will be on exhibit for an exclusive, one-night preview party.  This is the first and only time the playhouses will be exhibited together until they are brought to the Sirata Beach Resort and Conference Center on Saturday, November 13th for a gala auction to benefit both Outdoor Arts Foundation and it’s partner in R’Kidtecture, R’Club Child Care, Inc.

The week following the preview party at Reeves, 10 of the playhouses will go on exhibit on the main transfer level of Tampa International Airport where the Foundation has also exhibited fiberglass Loggerhead Sea Turtles in 2001, dog houses in 2004 and fiberglass Manatees in 2006.  The remaining 10 playhouses will be exhibited throughout WestShore Plaza where several past Foundation projects have also been displayed.

For St. Petersburg-based R’Club, the project represents a chance to raise awareness about the organization’s efforts throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties to provide high quality child care and youth development programs for children and their families.  “This is a tremendous opportunity for us to get out in the public eye and educate people about our mission” said Arthur O’Hara, Executive Director for R’Club Child Care, Inc.

Foundation Executive Director Jay Goulde is hoping people will view this project as a free, family-friendly event that will inspire children’s creativity and imagination.  According to Goulde “WestShore Plaza and Tampa International Airport are in close proximity and both free to visit so we’re hoping families will make a day out of seeing the playhouses.”  R’Kidtecture will also feature a complimentary guide book that will be available at the concierge desks at both venues.

Audi’s electric vehicle concept, the e-tron, made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week and boy did it make a great first impression. Jaws dropped as the stunning EV was unvieled. The e-tron boasts 313 horsepower and 3,319 foot-pounds of torque coming from four motors. Two motors on each axle are powered by a 42.4 kilowatt-hour liquid-cooled litium ion battery. The battery is said to last up to 154 miles before having to be recharged. The e-tron should see limited producion by the end of 2012.

The interior of the Audi e-tron is first-class all the way as brushed aluminum and rich leather line pretty much everything. Also, side cameras are used instead of side view mirrors.

Audi is also working on other electric vehicles and could have a few in production by 2013.

Idaho-based Solar Roadways founder Scott Brusaw is excited that his company has a received a USD$100,000 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant to develop further his prototype that turns roads in giant electricity-generating solar panels.

Apart from providing energy to power our homes, street lighting and so on, the roads could contain thousands of embedded LEDs to provide better street signage and make driving safer. He also believes the solar panel roads could last up to three times longer than the current petroleum-based asphalt surface and even be heated in winter to discourage dangerous ice build ups.

The device includes a GPS chip and a three-dimensional shock sensor. If the shock sensor feels the kind of force an accident would cause, it saves the last 15 seconds of footage. It also overlays data from its GPS chip on the video showing your speed and direction.
