Porsche Working on Electric Sports Car?

Porsche was rumored to be working on an electric version of the 911, and at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche’s new president and CEO, Michael Macht, confirmed that Porsche is indeed working on an electric sports car, but did not reveal which model.

According to Macht, the electric sports car has to meet the high performance standards of the Porsche brand, which, given the impressive statistics of the SLS eDrive, an electric Porsche should be able to do. Macht also said that the electric vehicle would have to offer a range similar to that of current sports cars.

“I am also convinced that one day Porsche will have an electric sports car in its lineup,” said Macht. He added that current battery technology isn’t “sufficient to meet Porsche’s strict requirements; our engineers are already working hard on this challenge.”
