Today’s Greenest Cars
Reeves Tampa has jumped on the “green” bandwagon. Check out two brands on our lot that were voted “Today’s Greenest Cars”:
BMW

Most significant green vehicle: BMW Hydrogen 7

BMW has been slow to hop on the hybrid bandwagon, but the company worked with DaimlerChrysler to develop a gas-electric powertrain system. Ultra-efficient but conventionally powered versions of its Mini cars and compact 1 Series, helped profits. The company also made waves by introducing a BMW 7 Series that runs on hydrogen.
Volkswagen

Most significant green vehicle: VW Touareg BlueTDI
Powertrain: V6, 222 hp
Fuel: Diesel

VW has also largely focused on clean diesel instead of hybrids. Its previous TDI models had trouble passing some states’ tough emissions standards, though, and couldn’t be sold nationwide. In 2008, it sold its new, cleaner system, BlueTDI, a product of the BlueTec alliance the company entered with Audi and DaimlerChrysler at the end of 2006.
